Shopping With Wicked Wires Jewellery
What does Wicked Wires Jewellery sell?
Wicked Wires Jewellery offers sterling silver jewellery, handmade one-off pieces, loose Australian opals for commission work, and hand-cut gemstones. Our handmade pieces are created in-house, with a focus on Australian opals, meaningful design and individual craftsmanship.

Are your handmade pieces one of a kind?
Yes. Handmade One-Off Collection pieces are individually made and are not mass-produced. Once a one-off piece has sold, the exact same item will not be restocked.

Are pendants supplied with a chain?
Unless clearly stated otherwise, handmade pendants are sold without a chain. This allows customers to choose their own preferred chain length, style and weight.
What is the Hand-Curated Silver Collection?
The Hand-Curated Silver Collection includes carefully selected 925 sterling silver jewellery essentials. These pieces are not handmade by Wicked Wires, but they are chosen to complement our wider jewellery range.
Opals, Gemstones and Materials
What type of opals do you use?
We work with Australian opals, including Lightning Ridge, Coober Pedy white opal, boulder opal, jelly opal and doublets. Some opals are available to purchase loose, while others may be suitable for bespoke commission work.
Can I choose a loose opal for a commission?
Yes. Loose Australian opals listed as available for commission can be chosen as the starting point for a bespoke piece. Once a stone is chosen, the finished design can be discussed through a commission consultation.

How should I care for opal jewellery?
Treat opal jewellery as fine jewellery and avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaning, swimming pools, sudden temperature changes and heavy knocks. Clean gently with a soft damp cloth and dry before storing. Opal doublets and triplets should not be soaked
Do you cut gemstones in-house?
Yes. Selected gemstones are cut, shaped and polished in-house before being offered for bespoke jewellery work or future finished pieces.
What metals do you use?
Our handmade jewellery is made using 925 sterling silver unless stated otherwise in the product listing.

How should I care for sterling silver jewellery?
Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time, especially when exposed to moisture, perfume, lotions, chlorine or household chemicals. Store jewellery dry and separately where possible, and clean gently with a soft silver polishing cloth. If the piece contains opal or another gemstone, follow the gemstone care guidance as well and avoid ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemicals.
Are your handmade pieces hallmarked?
Current handmade pieces are below the legal hallmarking weight threshold for sterling silver. We also provide Assay Office information and a Dealer’s Notice for customer transparency.
Commissions and Bespoke Jewellery
How do commissions work?
A commission begins with a consultation. We discuss your ideas, preferred style, chosen gemstone if applicable, intended meaning, budget and practical requirements. From there, the design is developed around the stone, the wearer and the purpose of the piece.
Are commissions only for pendants?
No. Bespoke work is not limited to pendants. Commissions may include rings, memorial jewellery incorporating ashes, money clips and other individually designed pieces.
Do you offer memorial jewellery?
Yes. Memorial and keepsake jewellery can be discussed privately as part of a bespoke commission, including pieces incorporating ashes where suitable. These commissions are handled with care and sensitivity.
Is the first commission consultation free?
Yes. The first 60-minute Book a Commission appointment is free. This gives us time to discuss your idea and whether the project is suitable before any production work begins.
What is the Online Jewellery Consultation?
The Online Jewellery Consultation is a paid one-to-one session for more detailed jewellery guidance, design discussion or follow-up support after the initial free commission appointment. This service is charged at £20 per hour.
Are consultations online?
Yes. Consultations are currently online only and are held via Google Meet.
Can I watch my commission being made?
Where suitable, gem cutting and jewellery setting may be shown live on TikTok. Customers can also request to be notified if work on their own commission is due to be shown live, giving them the option to follow part of the process in real time.
