Meet Opal Archipelago, an impressive 37ct Australian boulder opal with an incredibly detailed natural pattern. Its warm, earthy matrix is filled with small rounded formations, swirling markings and contrasting patches that give the stone wonderful depth and character.
Scattered throughout are numerous little pockets and streaks of precious opal, flashing electric blue, turquoise, green and violet as the viewing angle changes. Some appear as tiny isolated pools of colour, while others follow the contours of the surrounding pattern, giving the impression of brilliant islands scattered across an ancient landscape — the inspiration behind its name.
The closer you look, the more there is to discover. Ochre, rust, caramel and deep chocolate tones form an intricate backdrop, punctuated by unexpected sparks of vivid colour across different areas of the face. Its play-of-colour isn't concentrated in just one section; smaller flashes emerge throughout the stone as it is turned in the light.
At a substantial 45 × 29mm, Opal Archipelago has excellent presence, while its slim 3mm profile makes it particularly appealing for a statement pendant or a bespoke jewellery design that showcases the full natural face.
