Meet Emerald Whispers, a beautifully polished 4.9ct Australian boulder opal combining a rich chocolate-brown ironstone body with concentrated flashes of precious opal.

Across the deep earthy face, slender seams and pockets of colour suddenly ignite as the stone catches the light. Vivid emerald green, turquoise and electric blue provide the strongest flashes, standing out dramatically against the smooth brown ironstone.

The close-up views reveal some particularly attractive areas of colour. Bright green and blue opal appears almost suspended within the ironstone, with individual flashes changing intensity and tone as the stone is turned. Although the colour is concentrated rather than covering the entire face, its brightness creates a striking contrast and gives the stone plenty of character.

At approximately 9 x 11mm, this is a wonderfully wearable size. Its compact polished form would lend itself particularly well to a distinctive ring, although it could equally become a small pendant or another bespoke jewellery piece.
