Meet Ember Veil, an 8.7ct natural Australian boulder opal with a distinctive composition of glowing golden matrix, rich chocolate ironstone and striking flashes of blue and turquoise.
The stone is beautifully divided by its natural patterning. Warm honey-gold and burnt-orange tones sweep across one side in flowing bands and curved markings, resembling layered mineral formations. These golden areas gradually give way to a deep chocolate-brown ironstone field, providing a dramatic backdrop for the precious opal.
Across the darker section, delicate opal-bearing veins and natural matrix lines reveal vivid electric blue, turquoise and violet play-of-colour, accompanied by occasional touches of green. The colour appears in irregular, interconnected patches rather than one uniform seam, giving the stone an intricate organic character that changes noticeably as it is tilted in the light.
One of Ember Veil’s most attractive features is the contrast between its fiery golden outer matrix and the cooler flashes concentrated through the darker centre. Bright blue follows several natural veins, while turquoise and violet emerge from smaller pockets, creating the impression of colour flowing through the stone rather than simply resting on its surface.
At 22 x 14mm, Ember Veil has a compact freeform shape with excellent presence. Its combination of warm earthy tones, dramatic ironstone and vibrant precious opal would make it a distinctive choice for a pendant, statement ring or another bespoke jewellery design.
