This natural Australian boulder opal measures approximately 17mm x 33mm and showcases the remarkable relationship between precious opal and its natural ironstone host rock.

Rich chocolate-brown and golden ochre patterns create an earthy backdrop, while striking seams and patches of blue, turquoise and green opal illuminate the surface as the stone moves through the light.

The gemstone is polished on both sides, revealing two distinctly different natural patterns. One face has a bold, landscape-like arrangement of warm golden and dark brown ironstone, while the reverse reveals a particularly attractive trail of vivid blue-green opal running throughout.

Its elongated freeform shape and contrasting colours give the stone a wonderfully individual character.

With its substantial proportions and double-sided patterning, this boulder opal would make a striking centrepiece for a handcrafted pendant or another bespoke jewellery design. It is available to purchase as a loose gemstone or can be selected for commission work with our silversmith.
