Discover the striking character of Blue Fire Gorge, a natural Australian boulder opal weighing 13.50 carats and measuring approximately 14mm x 17mm. Its beautifully polished ironstone displays rich layers of rust, burnt orange and deep earthy brown, dramatically interrupted by brilliant seams of precious opal.
The defining feature of this stone is its intense turquoise-blue colour, which appears to cut through the warm ironstone like brilliant water through a rugged landscape. As the gemstone moves through the light, flashes of blue, turquoise, green and violet emerge from different areas, creating a constantly changing contrast against the fiery orange and brown matrix.
Polished on both sides, the gemstone reveals different arrangements of colour and natural ironstone patterning depending on which face is viewed. Its freeform shape and exceptionally distinctive combination of warm earth tones and vivid cool opal colour make it a true one-of-a-kind gemstone.
With its bold natural character and double-sided finish, Blue Fire Gorge would make a spectacular centrepiece for a handcrafted pendant or another bespoke jewellery design. It is available to purchase as a loose gemstone or can be selected for commission work with our silversmith.
