Own a genuine piece of Australia’s famous opal fields and transform this exceptional gemstone into a bespoke jewellery creation that will be treasured for years to come.

Discover The Cartographer, a natural Australian boulder opal weighing 19 carats and measuring approximately 23mm x 22mm. This distinctive gemstone combines warm amber, burnt orange and earthy brown ironstone with an extraordinarily intricate network of natural lines and patterns, giving the stone an almost map-like appearance.

Fine flashes of violet and electric blue weave through the ironstone, while a concentrated area of vivid turquoise, blue and green precious opal creates a striking focal point near the edge of the stone. As it moves through the light, smaller flashes emerge from within the detailed matrix, revealing new areas of colour from different viewing angles.

Polished on both sides and around the edges, The Cartographer reveals a different arrangement of its natural patterning depending on how it is viewed. Its substantial 19-carat weight, freeform shape and unusual combination of detailed ironstone markings and bright precious opal give this gemstone a character entirely its own.

With its unusual pattern and double-sided finish, The Cartographer would make a striking centrepiece for a handcrafted pendant or another bespoke jewellery design. It is available to purchase as a loose gemstone or can be selected for commission work with our silversmith.

Please note: Opal colours and patterns may appear different depending on the lighting and viewing angle. Every natural opal is unique.
